Wheelchair accessibility

The Children’s Museum of Alamance County is a one story, open-plan structure designed with wide hallways and extra space within each exhibit for ease of mobility for all of our guests. There are handicap accessible restrooms located at the front of the building, and two larger family style bathrooms located towards the rear of the building.

CMAC has a wheelchair available for use within the museum upon request at the front desk.

Nursing mothers

While CMAC does have a strict no food/drink policy (with the exception of water in clear/see-through containers), bottles are allowed for our littlest guests within our exhibits. We encourage mothers to nurse wherever they feel the most comfortable, and we do offer private quiet areas upon request - more information can be given at the front desk when you arrive.

First aid

We provide minor first aid including bandages, Neosporin, and ice packs. Our staff is not medically trained, however we are located directly between the Graham Police Department and Alamance County Rescue and can assist you in contacting either in the event of an emergency.

Managing overstimulation

We understand that our guests may be dealing a wide range of situations - in the event that you or a family member needs a place to escape and de-stimulate CMAC has programming rooms available; these rooms are often cooler than the rest of the museum, can be darkened, and are located away from the crowds and noise. Please ask the front desk which areas are available for that day.

Transition Toolkit

We have developed a transition toolkit for any guest who would like some simple techniques for making a smoother transition between exhibits. See the image below or click here for further information.
