Resources for Parents
Positive Behavior Support
CMAC has developed a “Transition Toolkit” to assist families who would like to make transitions between activities smoother for their children!
Below, you can find some handy visual cue cards that represent our exhibits and other common items found around the museum. These visuals can be printed before your visit to CMAC and used in a variety of ways including:
-Encouraging children with limited verbal skills to communicate their wants/needs
-Teaching new words
-Visually mapping out the schedule/routine for your visit so children know what to expect
Download our visual cue cards here!
Additionally, with a little practice, timers that children can see and hear sometimes help to prevent tantrums when it is time to move on! If you would like to borrow a timer and try it out for yourself, just ask for one at the front desk.
If you have any questions about how to use these tools or if you would like someone to assist you in using them, please contact us by emailing info@childrensmuseumofalamance.org.
